Hello and welcome to the official blog of the 2009 Hydro Tasmania Three Peaks Race.
Here I will take you through the race online, bringing you the highs to the lows, the winners and the losers, the quirky and the funny, the frustrating and the uplifting.
Please add your own stories or comments using the link below.
Although I will post our ``formal’’ media releases and stories here (see the first two below), the blog is a less formal, constantly updated commentary on the race, its competitors and the people behind the event.
For official race times, results and photos, follow the links from www.threepeaks.org.au; for media releases go to www.sail-world.com and if you like to see it in hard copy, The Examiner newspaper also gives good race coverage (and some great human interest stuff by its talented sports editor, Rob Shaw).
For those who like to put a name to the narrative, mine is Holly Ranson and I am the race committee’s press officer.
I am a journalist from Launceston and I covered the Three Peaks for the first time last year. Having a bit of a background in sailing I am familiar with many of our Tasmanian entrants, which makes following the race interesting and entertaining.
It also means none of them will escape the posting of embarrassing tales or photos.
So, with less than five days to go until that canon fires from Inspection Head, keep this window open!

Hi Holly,
Glad to see that you've stayed on for a second time.
I'll be looking forward to your knowledgeable reports during the race, as this is the first time in many years that I haven't been off with you lunatics during Easter.
Hope you can keep the boys under control !!
cheers, Eric G.
