Great Job guys, It is nice to get real coverage of what is going on and up to date info. Thanks for your effort. For such a great event, the normal media unfortunately does not seem to do it justice
Thanks :) It's a pleasure. Sometimes a stressful one, but always enjoyable. You're right about the coverage. Any suggestions on how we can infect our enthusiasm for this fantastic event into the mainstream, would be much appreciated.
I'd like to know whether Team Wildfire runners have taken off yet as no photos or feedback other than they have arrived at Lady Barron. As a wife of one of the runners at home trying to track the race and chase the kids at home, more details for the smaller crews would be appreciated.
Team Wildfire left Lady Barron at 1.08 and although the marshalls at base camp have not reported seeing them yet, they would have to be extremely close. They took the clockwise route which means they would have gone along the scrubby coastal track first. Do you know roughly what pace your husband would run at, or what time he hoped to do on the course?
Yes, so good to hear news about Wildfire. My spirit is pushing you on. Just one query ....How come getting caught by the tide gives certain boats a huge advantage, due to the fact that their runners were collected from the two stranded yachts and taken to shore so they could start their runs ?? Surely being becalmed doesn't get that sort of help...
Rosa sorry to say we still haven't had a report of Wildfire on the mountain. What happens with the boats that run aground, their sailing time doesn't stop until they actually reach the jetty. So effectively they're giving themselves a massive time penalty! They just go and get the runners so we can condense the event a bit, meaning we don't have to have marshalls up the mountain for an extra day while waiting for the boats to get off the bottom and into the jetty to drop off the runners. So even if those boats that ran aground do finish high up in the placings over the line, you will find that when the corrected times are released in the final results, that grounding will come into play.
The Hydro Tasmania Three Peaks Race is a non-stop four day sailing and endurance mountain running event conducted around the eastern half of Tasmania - Australia's island state.
The race starts at 2pm on Good Friday 22nd April 2011.
It's The Ultimate Endurance Challenge.
